A Pro Snowboarder Shares Her Beauty Secrets

A Pro Snowboarder Shares Her Beauty Secrets

Posted by Team John Paul Mitchell Systems on Nov 12th 2015

Olympic gold medalist and Paul Mitchell athlete Kaitlyn Farrington is a natural beauty with effortlessly cool style that sporty chicks just seem to exude. We asked her to share her simple beauty tricks (so we can look just as refreshed and bright post-ski run) and she spilled the beans. Warning: her low-maintenance, super fresh style will likely cause extreme envy!

What’s your overall approach to style, and specifically your look: experimental or less is more? Why?

I always enjoy being comfy, mainly because I am always head to toe in North Face!

You have incredible hair! What’s your everyday styling routine? What Paul Mitchell products do you use daily?

I kind of just let this mane do its own thing; I just go with its flow. My favorite shampoo and conditioner is Awapuhi Wild Ginger® Moisturizing Lather Shampoo® and Keratin Cream Rinse®. Then I follow that up with the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Styling Treatment Oil®. My hair’s never been so healthy!

We’ve noticed that your hair looks great smooth, wavy, curled and braided (envy!). When you’ve got to trade your helmet for a hair-do, what’s your favorite way to wear your hair for events?

The first thing I do after riding is take my braid out, because I’ll have  great curls after that and then I just top it off with a hat! Or if I don’t have a hat handy, I just use some Dry Wash®. That product has changed my life and made it so much easier to style.

What about while you’re training or practicing? What’s your go-to style?

I am always running out the door while putting a fishtail braid in my hair!

Cold weather can wreak havoc on healthy hair. What helps keep your hair healthy under your hat/helmet?

I have been using the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment® every couple weeks to keep those split ends under control!

Any tips for fellow female snowboarders on how to avoid hat/helmet hair when coming off the slopes?

Dry Wash! If I’m riding with a pack, I always have the travel one in there because you never know who you’re going to meet on the hill"

Any little-known snowboarder style/beauty secrets?

See above! I’m obsessed with Dry Wash!

Go girl! We love your simple, straight-to-the-point beauty routine.
