Hair stylist James Pecis used Awapuhi Wild Ginger® to achieve this "translatable" and modern take on a retro-inspired style created to complement the fun, positive vibe of the Lela Rose Spring 2017 collection.
KEY STYLE TAKEAWAY: Texture is KEY.
Prep hair with Awapuhi Wild Ginger® HydroMist Blow-Out Spray® from roots to middle. Create a center part.
Apply Awapuhi Wild Ginger® Texturizing Sea Spray® to dry hair from roots to ends. Blow-dry hair to enhance texture.
Use a 1-inch curling wand in alternating directions for the hair framing your face. This will set texture and add further dimension to your hair when it’s pulled back.
Loosely pull hair back into a low ponytail with hair slightly over the ears. Fasten with an elastic.
Back-comb hair with a wide tooth comb to create the shape of a "beaver tail" and fasten ends with a hair tie. If there is leftover hair, braid ends to allow for easier styling.
Roll hair towards the back of head to create a croissant-shaped bun.
Secure with bobby pins on each side using a hook motion from the top. Continue pinning with French pins and working from the outside in" this look doesn’t require a lot of bobby pins due to all the texture.
Pull a few pieces out around the face to soften look and then apply Awapuhi Wild Ginger® Finishing Spray™ to set the look.
To recreate the bowed look that went down the runway, begin the base of the head wrap under the bun at the nape of the neck and tie the bow asymmetrically╌any fabric will work to achieve this retro style!
