Hairstyles for 4th of July

Posted by Paul Mitchell Team on Jul 1st 2015

Fourth of July is one of our favorite holidays. What is there not to love about a holiday that lands directly in the middle of the summer and usually entails barbequing with friends and family, eating homemade apple pie and donning your favorite sundress and hairstyle? Yes please!

Whether you’re spending this sunny, summer holiday by the beach, on a boat or on an urban rooftop, it’s a day to celebrate with a chic summer hairstyle. Here are the two looks that we love for the occasion:

Take a simple braid to the next level by adding serious volume to crown of your hair. Use Dry Wash® to build volume and then create a three-part braid. Secure your braid with a clear elastic and lightly pull at the pieces of your braid to create a more full and whispy look. Adorn with a ribbon for a festive element and lock in your style with a strong hold hairspray like Stay Strong®.

If you like the idea of a boho-inspired 4th of July hairstyle, try this gorgeous center-part braid seen on Kate Bosworth. Our pros tell us this look can be achieved by taking a small section of hair from the center part starting at the crown of the head and French braiding forward towards the forehead. When you reach your forehead, split the braid into two sections and pin into place on either side. Tame any flyways with Stay Strong. I like the idea of wearing this style with a slicked-back low ponytail for a casual-yet-polished contrast  or pulled half way back to play up the bohemian vibe.
