Halloween Hairstyles Inspired By The Decades

Halloween is the ideal time to look back at the hairstyles that defined the past, inspired our present and will help lead us into the future. These five iconic looks will leave you feeling nostalgic (think big hair and butterfly clips!) and looking Zoom party ready.

’80s BIG HAIR

How do you get your blowout ’80s big? With a lot of mousse and a little teasing.

  1. Apply a golf ball-sized amount of Sculpting Foam™ to damp, towel-dried hair.
  2. Dry hair with an Express Ion Dry®+ Hair Dryer and an Express Ion Round® Brush.
  3. Braid medium-sized sections of hair, spray with Hot Off The Press® Thermal Protection Hairspray and run each braid through an Express Ion Smooth®+ Flat Iron.
  4. Before removing braids, spray with a light mist of Freeze and Shine Super Spray®.
  5. Un-braid each section and loosen with your fingers. Use a Teasing Brush for extra volume.
  6. Create a deep side part and use a Teasing Brush to backcomb hair at front hairline, up and away from the face.
  7. Finish with a light mist of Super Clean Spray®.

’90s CALI GIRL COOL

Grunge meets Clueless in this west coast chic look that’s so easy to recreate.

  2. Dry hair with an Express Ion Dry®+ Hair Dryer and a 413 Sculpting Brush.
  3. Spray with Hot Off The Press® Thermal Protection Hairspray and wrap it around an Express Gold Curl 1.25" Curling Iron; alternate the direction in which you curl each section, away from the face.
