New Year, New Hairstyle

New Year, New Hairstyle

Posted by Taylor deDiego on Jan 2nd 2016

The New Year is here, which provides a great opportunity to spruce up or even revamp your hair game. Sure your style might not be outdated or even desperate, but why not try something new and start the year off with a fresh look (consider this your New Year’s resolution and check it off before the first week of January is over!)? Here are a handful of winter hairstyle trends we’re trying right away.

This one should be obvious, but sometimes it’s not: Healthy hair is your best canvas for consistently great hair days. Whether you wear your hair natural, straight or lightly waved, it’s important to start with fresh and healthy locks. Book an appointment with your stylist to update your shape, trim off any dead ends and stock up on the Paul Mitchell® products that’ll keep your hair healthy and happy until your next visit. Now that you have a healthy canvas, carry onto the styles we love"

The bun is back and we’re not complaining. There are so many versatile ways to wear a bun╌from a messy chignon to a towering top knot, we love them all. Experiment with the top knot style that works for you and don’t be afraid to wear a casual style for a formal event and vice versa!

We’re excited about the wet look since it is so vastly different than the soft, lived-in look we’ve been wearing from months. This look is defined by hair that actually looks damp and is kept in place with high shine gels like Super Clean Sculpting Gel®. Our favorite take on this style? Dampen the roots of your hair, apply Super Clean Sculpting Gel® and slick your hair back into a low ponytail, then leave the ends untreated. The end result should be slicked back, high shine hair and an untreated, soft ponytail. Tres chic!

As previously mentioned, we’re all about healthy hair and that means embracing your natural texture. If you have waves, curls or subtle texture, now is the time to show it off. This season, use these tips for girls with curls to embrace your texture and say hello to frizz-free curls and waves that’ll turn heads.

If you generally love your hairstyle  but want to try a low-commitment change, try switching up your part! A simple side part can easily alter your look and can be paired with nearly any style╌smooth styles, voluminous waves, pin curls or bedhead all work.
