Paul Mitchell Takes On New York Fashion Week

Paul Mitchell stylists took New York Fashion Week by storm with styles that stunned on three designer stages. Here’s the scoop on the styles created for each show.

Our team kicked off fashion week at the Spring 2015 FRAME Denim presentation, creating a laid-back look to complement the  collection’s clean, white palette and minimal makeup.

Stylists Randi, Amanda and Ashley from Paul Mitchell Focus Salon CARU in Hoboken, New Jersey created the show’s signature style.  Working  with the models' natural texture, the stylists created gorgeous, undone volume by prepping the hair with Dry Wash® and then back combing from mid-shaft down with a teasing brush. The stylists added loose waves to amplify the undone texture with the NEURO® Unclipped Styling Rod and set the look with Worked Up® and Stay Strong®.

On Friday morning, Paul Mitchell was backstage at Lincoln Center for the Mark & Estel Spring 2015 show. Lead Hairstylist Niki Walker and her team created a tousled, rocker chic look that perfectly captured the collections’ west coast vibe.

Niki and her team achieved the look by creating extra volume with Dry Wash  and then adding artfully disheveled waves with the Neuro Unclipped Styling Rod and Express Ion Style®. The stylists created additional volume and texture by securing the top section of the models' hair into a small twist that was let out shortly before they walked the runway.  The finished look included a strong side part and a swooping fringe across the forehead. The style was  topped off with Stay Strong and paired perfectly with the boho, rock n’ roll looks that walked the runway.

MITCH® was the manâ•Œerr, styling productâ•Œof the hour during the Haspel and Cadet menswear presentations at the exclusive  Esquire  magazine New York Fashion Week event.

Known as the originators of the seersucker suit, the hair for Haspel was styled to correspond with the classic menswear piece. Paul Mitchell educators and stylists Ryan Belmonte, Kathleen Firth and Brian Haire paired a strong side part with a cocktail of MITCH Reformer®, Steady Grip® and a dab of Clean Cut® to keep hair matte and casual.

Complementing the strong lines and military-inspired style of Cadet, the MITCH team created a slicked-back style with MITCH Barber’s Classic® and topped off the look with Clean Cut for added hold.  Lead stylist and Paul Mitchell Educator Ryan Belmonte explained that the look was universally flattering: "Most men look great in it because they're keeping the hair off of the face. It's like a classic T-shirt. Everyone looks good in it, but can also wear it a little differently."
