Spotted: Cool Winter Hair Trends

Posted by Team John Paul Mitchell Systems on Dec 22nd 2016

As the temperatures drop and the layers come on, we're on the lookout for easy, chic and╌above all╌wearable ways to update our hair looks. Our most fashionable finds follow.

With A Twist

With a Twist

French pleats have been spotted all over the runways this season and make an intriguing alternative to the usual braids. Simply twist the hair at the side of the head or across the crown and secure. Depending on how you twist, the style can feel sweet and romantic or ’50s rock 'n' roll. We like to start with some Dry Wash® dry shampoo at the roots for extra grip before we twist, and a final spritz of Stay Strong® to keep it all in place.

80s Volume -OPTION 2

’80s Rules

This year we're also seeing the ’80s come back in a big way. From huge volume to crimped texture and slightly teased sidesweeps, this decade was all about larger"than-life hair. Wear as a nice companion to bulky coats, massive scarves and all of winter's bundled-up looks.

Tuck It InTuck It In

Seen all over Instagram feeds and hip neighborhood streets, one of the most effortless winter trends we love is tucking hair into whatever you're wearing, from turtleneck sweaters to wool scarves. Simply keep the ends of your shoulder-length or longer hair tucked into your outfit and voila!╌you've got a chic, cool-girl faux-bob in 20 seconds or less. Static may be an unwanted side effect, so we recommend a spritz of Fast Drying Sculpting Spray® to keep those unwanted flyaways at bay.
